With a background in local government spatial planning and parks and reserves development, my main passion is enabling local communities to discover the potential of their place. I have worked across multiple roles within local government in planning, open space, and infrastructure provision to align differing expectations and bring about positive changes. Developing and leading technical and multi-disciplinary teams to understand the main problems, research the evidence, workshop the options to create enduring solutions is part of recipe for successful projects.
Urban open spaces do not exist in isolation – they have nearby residents, businesses, amenities, transportation, educational institutions, and people in clubs & groups that utilise and connect to them. Communities value their open space; it is the shop window of Council, and it is therefore important that it is valued alongside other council infrastructure responsibilities. Having a robust development and management plan that the community has been part of shaping, will have high endorsement and much more likely to achieve its implementation recommendations.
